5 Ways to Boost Your Mental Health Everyday

It all begins with you. Maybe you want to make small mindful changes, or maybe you want to reduce anxiety. Whatever it is, the way you live your everyday can make all the difference.

Taking the first step can feel overwhelming, we have broken it into bit sized chunks, for you to create your own life magic. Slowly is the speed we go, and it reaps rewards for your mental health, bringing mindfulness and boosting your lifestyle. Have fun experimenting!

Techniques like yoga, deep breathing and meditation can help calm your mind and reduce stress. There are amazing apps which help with all things relaxation. We love Buddhify and Insight Timer, for great content with affirmations, deep breathing and guided mediations. Learning to meditate is truly a gift to yourself which will keep on giving, Will at Beeja Mediation offers online meditation courses and classes for mindfulness. While great yoga content can be found on apps like Peloton, there are also online classes and retreats led by amazing people like, Shweta at Karma Yoga and Pilates. However you find your calm place, the journey is worth exploring.

Having a time out from busy devices is a good way to unwind. You can add a screen time to most devices these days, so you limit yourself to a certain time online each day. Try a blackout zone, where you turn your device off for a certain time period, or bring in a rule not to look at your device after a certain time each night. A break from the outside world, and also a break from the blue light which is said to influence your sleep patterns by slowing down your melatonin release. You might find time to do other hobbies in the evening, like a crafting project.

Create a snuggle zone filled with cosy blankets and comfy pillows, outside of the bedroom, can help you relax and find peace when not sleeping. Surround yourself with your favourite colours and textures. A place to slouch and chill, is a sure fire way to bring on the comforting vibes needed after a busy day.

Adding plants is a fun way to help you enjoy your space more. If you buy plants like the decorative Snake Plant, a fancy Areca Palm or a cute little Spider Plant, they help increase oxygen levels which helps increase air quality and revive your space. They are a great addition to a work space and are generally good for your rooms energy flow.

Decluttering is always easier to say than do, but spend 10 mins focused on the one corner of the room which sits in your eyeline. This will create a visual space for you to focus and help clear your mind. A good technique is to create a shelf space, with your favourite books, trinkets, and a few items which remind you how awesome you are. These could be affirmations, or photos of fun memories, it is your space create your happy here.
